Land of Fire

After breakfast, get ready for your tour starting with a visit to the Highland Park. Located on a hill in the western part of the city. This is the best place to see the city and Baku bay. Next, you will visit the Old City, with its fortified walls, historic buildings and narrow cobbled streets. You will appreciate the main attractions of the Old Town, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the famous Maiden Tower. Next Discover one of Azerbaijan’s most treasured traditions with a visit to the iconic Carpet Museum in Baku. Housed in a building shaped like a rolled carpet, the museum showcases an outstanding collection of carpets from different regions of the country, each reflecting centuries-old craftsmanship, patterns, and cultural heritage, guided by experts. After the museum tour, immerse yourself in the living tradition of carpet weaving during an interactive masterclass. Next, there is a trip to the national restaurant (for extra charge), where you guests will taste the national dishes, as well as will have the opportunity to see the process of tandoor cooking (a special kind of bread) in a special oven of the same name. After breakfast, departure for an excursion to the historical and archaeological reserve of Gobustan. The archaeological reserve of Gobustan, an open-air museum located in the south-east of the Great Caucasus. Gobustan petroglyphs dating back to 5,000-20,000 years, perfectly preserved rock carvings, are a kind of artistic archive of human evolution on planet Earth. Next point of the tour is the area of Mud volcanoes, a rare natural phenomenon appeared in Azerbaijan 25 million years ago. Azerbaijan has nearly 400 mud volcanoes on its territory. Then after tour goes on with the ancient legacy of Zoroastrianism. Located 30 km away from Baku, there is one of the most mysterious sights of Azerbaijan - Ateshgah, The Temple of Fire Worshippers. Part caravanserai, part fire temple, it stands on the site of a natural-gas burning from the earth crust. It is called the eternal fire. In ancient time Ateshgah was a sacred place to Zoroastrians. Later make your way to visit the burning mountain, Yanardag. a flaming mountain slope that cannot be extinguished either by rain or covered with sand, which has been burning for several millennia. After your tour, head back to the hotel. Overnight in Baku. (B)

After breakfast, the check-out from the hotel, and get transferred to the Heydar Aliyev international airport. Depending on the time of departure, there is a chance to visit colorful Eastern Bazaar called Yashil Bazar or Green Bazaar (on your own). You may buy some dried fruits, traditional Azerbaijani tea, nuts and sweets. (B)
